Хотя damage extent remains unconfirmed, the fire and apparent damage to production infrastructure make the refinery a significant target for strikes on Russia’s military-industrial and fuel-supply capacity.

Cum prezintă evenimentul sursele ucrainene

Ukrainian sources emphasize that FP-1 is a domestically developed drone and highlight the number of hits and the industrial installations affected. They also draw attention to the refinery’s military-supply role, particularly reactive fuel for Russian aircraft and other products used by the armed forces of Russia. The strike is presented as part of the broader campaign against Russian oil-refining and defence-support facilities.

Cum prezintă evenimentul sursele internaționale

The available non-Ukrainian coverage focuses on the confirmed drone attack on the refinery in Russia’s Samara region. It provides less detail than the Ukrainian reporting about the FP-1 drones, the installations affected, the plant’s military output and the reported parallel strike on the Konservsushprod facility in Bryansk region.

Unde diferă relatările

Sources disagree on whether an air-raid warning was issued in Novokuibîșevsk before the attack or only during it: some residents reported no warning, while others said it was declared after the attack had begun. The refinery’s annual processing capacity is also reported as approximately 8.8 million tonnes in most coverage, with one report citing 8.3 million tonnes.

Context

The Novokuibîșevsk refinery has belonged to the Samara group of Rosneft enterprises since 2007. It produces more than 20 types of petroleum products, including automotive and aviation fuel, Euro-5 diesel, reactive fuel, bitumen, petroleum coke and lubricating-material components. The plant was previously attacked on 22 August and on 18 April, and after the April strike work was halted at both primary crude-processing units, AVT-11 and AVT-9.
